Mitsubishi Outlander Named 2022 Crossover Utility of the Year by HMPA
The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV has been a huge success for the automaker. Bringing Mitsubishi to new heights, the company bounced backed, and Mitsubishi Motors is seeing huge profits from the Outlander. Not only did it set monthly and quarterly sales records during the time of its initial release, but it also accounted for 33-percent of overall sales in 2021 for Mitsubishi. Recently, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance shared its plans for the future – Alliance 2030 – with electric vehicle (EV) development and Mitsubishi Motors still first in line to release a brand new model. While the Alliance moves forward, Mitsubishi is still moving up, winning awards like the Crossover Utility of the Year by the Hispanic Motor Press, as part of their annual Hispanic Motor Press Awards (HMPA).
During the awards, Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, founder and president of the Hispanic Motor Press and editor-in-chief at Garage Latino highlighted features of the SUV, such as its great interior and exterior design, third-row seats, and all-wheel driving. Aaron Michael Sanchez from “The Morning Show”, KMET FM, and one of the judges for this years awards, called the Mitsubishi Outlander a good everyday package and great overall value for the Latino family. The Hispanic community actually makes a large part of buyers of the Mitsubishi Outlander. Back in January, we reported on the Mitsubishi Outlander being named SUV of the Year by Puros Autos during the “Latin Flavor Cars of the Year 2021” awards. The all-new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV has the highest percentage of Hispanic buyers in the industry, and according to Rodriguez-Long, Hispanic customers represent 30-percent of the growth in new-vehicle sales in the United States.
Going on 12 years, the HMPA evaluates 100 new vehicles every year, and this year consisted of 2021 and into 2022 model year vehicles. Evaluated by a jury panel of 20 members, the organization’s advisory board chooses independent Hispanic automotive journalists, content creators, and industry influencers to be one of the jurors. Each juror drives all 100 vehicles and grades them based on its overall design, comfort, safety, economy, handling, performance, functionality, infotainment integration, interior design, environmental requirements, driver satisfaction, and price. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander shined through it all.
“The features that make the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander an award winner from the Hispanic Motor Press are the same features that every customer seeks in a new vehicle: value, bold styling, engaging driving dynamics and an industry-leading warranty…Since its launch in 2021, the all-new Outlander has broken sales records, exceeded customers’ expectations and taken its place as the flagship of Mitsubishi Motors’ all-new or extensively revised showroom lineup. We could not be prouder to add this prestigious award to the vehicle’s growing trophy cabinet, and we thank all the jurors for the honor.” – MMNA Chief Operating Officer Mark Chaffin
As mentioned, big things are coming for Mitsubishi Motors with the Alliance 2030 business strategy. Right now, the automaker is releasing new generations of current models, like the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander, the recent reveal of the new Outlander Sport, and most likely new versions of the Outlander PHEV and Eclipse Cross before revealing a new vehicle. Word is Mitsubishi Motors has something still under wraps, but it’s unclear if it’s a new Mitsubishi vehicle or the rebadged Renault.
