Mitsubishi Motors is gearing up for a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) lineup with Ampere, but first, it needs to keep its gasoline models alive. Its flagship vehicles are currently the Mitsubishi Outlander for the gasoline models and the Outlander PHEV for electrified models. Engine Types
For the 2024 model year, the Outlander Sport has six trims with a small change: S, ES, LE, SE, SEL, and Trail Edition. A 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve I4 engine powers most of the lineup, generating 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. This year, the GT has been replaced with the SEL trim, but it is still powered by a 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve I4, generating 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque.
Driving and Handling
Most trims have a fuel economy of 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, powered by the 2.0-liter engine. The SEL has a small change in fuel economy, able to deliver 23 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

Exterior Features
This year, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has a good number of standard exterior features, including heated exterior mirrors, automatic headlights, LED low and high beam headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED tail lights, and rear privacy glass. Past the base S trim, the model adds LED fog lights. 16-inch wheels are the standard wheel size, but past the S trim, the rest of the lineup comes with 18-inch wheels.
Interior Features
The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport comes with a number of standard features for the interior too, including automatic climate control, rear heater ducts, a 6-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way manually adjustable front passenger seat, and a 60/40 folding rear bench seat. Only the SEL trim comes with a 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Fabric upholstery is the standard. Past the ES trim, consumers will also find heated front seats, a leather-wrapped gear shift knob, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport comes with a 4-speaker sound system and a 7-inch touchscreen display for the base trim and ES trim. Past that, an 8-inch smartphone-link display audio system (SDA) is the standard setup, but the sound system doesn’t upgrade until the SE and SEL trims, equipped with a six-speaker sound system. Lineup standards include Bluetooth wireless technology, HD Radio, a rearview camera, and steering wheel audio and phone controls. Past the ES trim, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capability becomes available, plus a SiriusXM Satellite Radio 3-month trial, and steering wheel voice recognition control.
Safety Features and Warranty
The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport comes with many standard basic safety features, including advanced dual-stage front airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, side curtain airbags and front seat-mounted side airbags, stability and traction control systems, automatic high beams, a rearview camera, and LATCH child seat system, an anti-theft engine immobilizer, and RISE body construction to protect all the passengers. Advanced safety features that come standard include forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning standard. Only the SE and SEL trims are equipped with blind spot warning with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
