New 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition is Here!

At the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, Mitsubishi debuted the new 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition (L.E.) trim, and it’s safe to say it’s definitely a crowd-pleaser. At MitsubishiCars.com, you can get a look at all it has to offer, and dealerships are already putting in factory orders.
The Limited Edition, or L.E. 2.0 is locked into the 2.0-liter MIVEC DOHC I4 engine for either, the L.E. 2.0 or L.E. 2.0 with All-Wheel Control (AWC). We were hoping it would have a 2.4-liter engine as a last-minute addition, seeing as how this limited edition is a little special, but we’ll leave the argument over a difference of 20 horsepower to the readers. The engine is paired to the INVEC CVT Sportronic transmission, which is some good news because that’s the kind of transmission you want in today’s automobile.
Let’s break down some of the acronyms real quick –
MIVEC is the name given to Mitsubishi’s own variable valve timing (VVT) technology design. A little tinkering with the fuel-air intake/exhaust valves of an engine’s cylinders can result in maximum performance and fuel economy if done right.
A DOHC, or dual overhead camshaft, is an engine with two camshafts instead of one, and without making this confusing, all you need to know is two is better than one, leading to a less stressed, better performing engine.
INVEC is the name given to Mitsubishi Motors’ CVT technology. Known as a “continuous variable transmission” (CVT), it can switch between gears on the fly without loss of speed or expended fuel. A Sportronic transmission also allows drivers to switch gears manually if they so desire, otherwise it defaults to automatic without driver input.
All-in-all, the Outlander Sport Limited Edition is still plenty powerful, and it gets 24/30 mpg city/highway. Many of the features found on the limited edition are still prominent, such as HID headlights, fog lights, and 18-inch black painted alloy wheels for the exterior. For this trim specifically, a “Limited Edition” badge will be slapped onto the exterior, and the interior gets its own style with leather accents and red stitching throughout the cabin. Once inside, drivers will be greeted by a 6.5-inch touchscreen with smartphone link, Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto, and Bluetooth technology, all of which is an exclusive add-on to the Outlander Sport L.E. — score!
An MSRP for the Limited Edition starting at $21,995 is quite the bargain. Feel free to contact us for more information on the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition and when you can come in for a test drive.
