Why Go Full Electric When You Can Buy A Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Now?
Researchers in the auto industry have collectively agreed on some interesting results about consumers and the shifting market towards electrified vehicles. Although many automakers are working towards the development of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), many consumers are satisfied with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles( PHEVs). This is mainly because they have the choice of gassing up or charging up, instead of searching for a charging station with a BEV. Offering more fuel economy for a great price, one plug-in hybrid seems like the perfect choice at the moment – the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Starting at $40,345 (plus destination fee), the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV offers consumers basic power for a lot of range. Powered by a 2.4-liter inline-four-cylinder engine and a 20 kwH lithium-ion battery powering a twin motor system, the Outlander PHEV isn’t made for rally races with its 244 horsepower, but going off-road may be possible. The gasoline engine, optimized with Mitsubishi Motors MIVEC timing system, can 144 lb-ft of torque can be generated, whereas the front electric motor provides an additional 188 lb-ft of torque, plus 143 lb-ft more torque from the rear. And we all know the electric motors can generate torque at 0 RPM. With a fuel economy of 64 MPGe, an all-electric range (AER) of 38 miles, and a total range of 420 miles with a full charge and a full tank, the Outlander PHEV already has a lot going for it.
Not holding back, Mitsubishi offers plenty of features inside and out. Standard across the lineup, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is equipped with automatic headlights, LED high beam headlights and LED tail lamps, side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, and rear privacy glass. For a little bit of luxury, consumers can go beyond the base ES trim to add heated exterior mirrors, a hands-free power liftgate, and can opt-in for a power panoramic sunroof. For some extra style, a new Platinum Edition was added in 2024, featuring a special Black Diamond paint with an Alloy Silver roof color combination, a Light Grey interior, Satin hood emblem, silver gauge trim, and more. The Black Edition is also still available in 2024 on the SE and SEL trims, featuring all-new black semi-aniline premium leather-appointed seating surfaces, a black dynamic shield, black chrome window trim, and black roof rails for an all-blacked-out Outlander PHEV.
Inside, consumers will find various choices for the upholstery, starting with cloth on the ES base trim, then synthetic leather on the SE trim, and real leather on the SEL trim. Past the base trim, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV also offers an 8-way adjustable power driver seat with power lumbar support, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. An 8-way adjustable power passenger seat (both come with memory), and triple-zone automatic climate control can be found on the high- tier SEL trim.
Technology is another plus in the Outlander PHEV. All trims come with an 8-inch smartphone-link display audio (SDA) system and a six-speaker audio system, plus Bluetooth wireless technology, Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and steering wheel audio, phone, and voice recognition control. If looking for a little more, consumers can get a 9-inch SDA with navigation and HD Radio past the base ES trim, and opt-in for a BOSE premium sound system with nine speakers. Advanced safety features have become much more prominent in recent years with Mitsubishi Motors, adding forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot warning with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alerts, driver attention alert, and rear parking sensors to every trim in the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Past the base, trims also come equipped with front parking sensors and MI-PILOT Assist.
