What’s New for the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
2023 is halfway done, and that means it’s time to start planning for 2024. Well, maybe not that soon, but the auto industry is already gearing up. Earlier this month (July 2023), Mitsubishi Motors announced its North America lineup. There aren’t a lot of changes, and some things seem to be missing from 2023 are making its way to 2024, like new trims and Ralliart special editions. That goes double for the Eclipse Cross. Check out the highlights for the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.
Power
No changes here. Every trim comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine under the hood, capable of generating 152 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Every trim also comes with Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system. The lineup remains the same, with four in total – ES, LE, the SE, and the SEL. Yes, the Ralliart special edition was missing from 2023, but it should be revealed later in 2024. Standard across the lineup is an 8-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT). This means all trims also come with the same fuel economy, delivering 26 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Style
Small changes here. LEDs are still everywhere, with daytime running LED lights, color- LED rear taillights, and an LED high mount stop light, and LED headlamps and fog lights all standard. Consumers will find Automatic headlamps reserved for the SE trim and SEL trims. Rear privacy glass, roof rails, and heated exterior mirrors are also standard features, with the ES riding on 16-inch wheels, whereas the rest of the lineup has the choice of 18-inch wheels. The LE trim also gets proximity keyless entry and engine start up this year. For 2024, the SE (and probably the SEL trim) add on adaptive cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear USB port, and hands-free power liftgate with kick sensor.
Standard interior features include 60/40 split-rear bench, a six-way adjustable driver seat, four-way adjustable passenger seat, automatic climate control, and a drive mode selector. Past the base ES trim, added comfort comes with heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with voice control. The SE trim adds 8-way power driver seat, synthetic suede upholstery, an artificial leather-wrapped shift knob, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Last year, the SE could also add on a Panoram package to get a power panoramic sunroof and black roof rails. Going up, the SEL trim, paddle shifters, leather upholstery, an 8-way power passenger seat, and a heated steering wheel. The SEL also comes has the option of adding a Touring Package that adds a power panoramic sunroof and black roof rails, plus heated rear seats, a heads-up display, an auto-dimming mirror with Homelink®, an eight-speaker system, a lane departure warning system with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control.
Tech
The 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross still keeps things simple for the base ES trim with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and a four-speaker sound system. Past that, the lineup comeswith an 8-inch touchscreen with a smartphone-link display system (SDA), Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Mitsubishi Connect. The SE and SEL trims add on navigation, and a six-speaker system. Standard advanced safety features for 2023 and 2024 are forward collision mitigation system and lane departure warning system with pedestrian detection. The SE and SEL trims also come with a blind-spot warning system, lane change assist, and a rear cross-traffic alert system.
All Mitsubishi models come with a basic 5-year/60,000-mile warranty. It also has a limited powertrain warranty for 10-years/100,000 miles and an anti-corrosion warranty for 7-years/100,000 miles. Finally, roadside assistance comes with a 5-year warranty.
