The 2021 Jeep Gladiator is the perfect pickup to make your weekends a true adventure whether you’re off-roading or making a simple trip to the grocery store. This Jeep model is highly capable, as it has an excellent tow rating of 7,650 lbs. It’s also a great work truck, with options for a convertible soft and hard top, with doors coming off and windshield folding for a true Jeepified experience. All of these capabilities add up to the many reasons why it’s been selected as Driver’s Auto Mart Used Car of The Week!

Engine

The 2021 Gladiator pickup has two powertrain options, with the standard being its 3.6-liter V6. This motor has an output of 285 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque, with its energy being sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. There is also an alternative 8-speed automatic 2-pedal, with average fuel consumption rated at 19 mpg with both transmission systems.

Then, the Sport, Overland, and Rubicon Gladiator’s have an available 3.0-liter diesel V6, producing 260 horsepower and a mighty 442 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain only comes with an 8-speed automatic.

Exterior

Considered to be the twin of the Jeep Wrangler, just in pickup form, it’s only natural that the Gladiator would strike a close resemblance to its sibling. It also has that familiar 7-slot grille, removable doors, and foldable windshield.

The entry-level Sport model has steel wheels, a body-colored grille, and lighting for the cargo bed. There’s also a standard soft top, and optional 3-piece colored hard top. Additionally, the Mojave and Rubicon trims come with larger fender flares to lodge bigger all-terrain tires.

Interior and Standard Features

Stepping inside, you’ll see a tribute to vintage Jeeps with elements like circular gauges and air vents, which only further exude the adventurous aura that this pickup has. The car is definitely meant to get down and dirty, which explains the reason for the drain plugs as well as the optional slush mats. Underneath the rear seats is a storage area, and behind that is a standard lockable bin.

The base Sport trim includes the basics, such as roll-up windows, cloth upholstery, 17-inch steel wheels, a folding soft top, and a 5-inch infotainment display. It also includes hardware, like Dana 44 solid axles and AWD with a transfer case. There’s even a Trailer Sway Control system, cargo bed lighting, and lockable storage behind the rear seats.

If you’re looking for more upscale items, it’s recommended that you at least upgrade to the Overland, as this model encompasses features like power windows and locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear glass, 115-volt outlet, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, two USB-C ports, and a 7-inch infotainment touch screen.
