Why the Outlander is Better than a Minivan

SUVs, crossovers, minivans. What’s not to like? Well, in the old days, SUVs and crossovers were as good as they were gonna get for that generation. Skip ahead a few years, and the SUVs and crossovers of today can top any minivan. Take the Mitsubishi Outlander for instance. You won’t find many perfect blends of performance, comfort, and safety.

Performance

Okay let’s talk shop for a second here. What’s better than the powerful 166-hp 2.4-liter MIVEC engine, the standard engine on a Mitsubishi Outlander? The fact that not only is power under the hood, but the driver has full-control of all wheels all the time. Yes, the Outlander comes with All-wheel control (AWC), a four-wheel drive (4WD) system designed by Mitsubishi Motors.

Their innovative system balances the capability of all four tires and unpredictable driving conditions. By combining technologies, such as 4WD drivetrains, suspension technologies, braking systems, and stability/traction control systems, the Outlander’s performance is second-to-none. Well, except for Super AWC, a reformed system that automatically switches from 2WD to 4WD when necessary.

That’s not the only system devised by Mitsubishi though. The engine’s “MIVEC” system is a variable valve timing (VVT) system designed to optimize the Outlander’s performance and fuel economy. Plus, with continuous variable transmission (CVT), another design by Mitsubishi, drivers can go from first gear to sixth gear without any loss of power between gear shifts. They’re two of the many reasons why this compact SUV has excellent power and handling.

Comfort

What about seating? What good is a powerful car that gives you a back ache? How does leather seating and plenty of leg room sound? There’s room for up to seven passengers to sit comfortably, thanks to the Mitsubishi Outlander’s standard third-row seating. Drivers can quickly configure seating based on passengers and cargo with the quick-folding 60/40 split second row and the 50/50 split third row seats.

Which brings us to cargo. Behind the front seats, drivers get about 63 cubic-feet of space. Drop down the second row, and that’s another 34 cubic-feet. With all seats folded, drivers have over 100 cubic-feet of space, and more than that by adding on optional roof racks. Plus, when in a rush, who wants to be fumbling with keys? With the FAST-key entry system, just walk up to your car and it’s already unlocked, like it knows its owner is close-by.

Technology

Before jumping into all the great safety features, let’s talk about entertainment. Today, audio systems and brand name technology are some of the biggest deals in the business. The Mitsubishi Outlander has a 7-inch touchscreen display with hands-free Bluetooth technology. All kinds of convenient apps are at the driver’s fingertips, plus smartphone link connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A premium Rockford-Fosgate sound system with nine speakers and subwoofer is available. The system also has signature technology like Digital Signal Processing, DTS Neural Surround, PremiDIA-WIDE Surround, and Dolby Volume.

And one quick small break from the fun tech-stuff – the Outlander comes with an ECO driving mode that employs energy saving measures to let the driver know how fuel efficient their driving is. Want to save a little more gas? Just check ECO mode, and you’ll find out.

Safety and Warranty

The Mitsubishi Outlander is packed, packed with safety features. Adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, multi-view camera systems, rear cross traffic alerts, the list goes on. Plus, the body and chassis are built with Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) construction that utilizes crumple zones to route and absorb energy during high-impact collisions. Now that’s a vehicle that’s not only stable, but also has a secure base that’s worth its weight in safety.

Who could forget Mitsubishi has the best warranties in the auto market today? The Mitsubishi Outlander is backed by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile fully transferable new vehicle basic limited warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty on the restraint system, a 7-year/100,000-mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty, and 5-years/unlimited miles roadside assistance. Just…wow.

So, still thinking about some other vehicle over an Outlander? Yeah, didn’t think so!
