Keeping Your Car Clean and Protected this Summer is Easy with These Tips
It’s that time of year again! Yes, it’s time to plan long road trips, tanning at the beach, and being a good ol’ lazy bum poolside. Who doesn’t like a little getaway during the summer? Marco Island may finally be dry after the hurricane flooding, so why not plan a day or two at one of the great beach resorts and spend all day in the sun? Just be sure to keep yourself cool, and that includes your car. It can be easy to forget that vehicles also need a little protection from the sun. Check out these easy tips for surviving another hot summer and keeping your car protected, too.
Be Prepared for the Elements
Sun, salt water in the air, and small debris like rocks and sand can spell trouble for a car. The easiest way to keep it clean and protected it with a car wash after going out to the beach, and especially clean if having just enjoyed a day of mudding. Remember, rinse first, because rubbing the car down with sand or other debris is a quick way to get many little scratches all over that paint job. This goes double for mudding. Once it’s caked on and dried, it’s hard to get off. If you don’t have time for a wash and wax, many auto shops sell a spray-on product that can act as a layer of wax, and they’re sure to sell spray-on films to protect the car from cosmetic damage.
Keep the Interior Clean
That last one was for the exterior of the car, but what about the interior cabin? It sure gets hot in the summer heat, especially when turned off. Aside from keeping the sunroof open, which can always tempt criminals, it’s better to buy a sunshade to lay across the windshield. This can help from keeping the interior cabin from getting too hot, especially the steering wheel and seats – hot and sticky leather seats are the worst. In addition, many vehicles, like the new 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander, comes with pull-down sunshades to keep the rear passengers just as cool, and especially when blasting the a/c. Just like the exterior, the interior also needs some help to keep clean, and consumers can fix this in a jiffy with all-weather floor mats and seat covers.
Firing Up the Grill
When out and about all day, it can be tiring. Keeping a cooler on hand full of water bottles and snacks are always a good idea, especially at the beach. If going to a park, many tend to have public grills visitors can use to start their own private BBQ and throw a party. For those master chefs that love to keep their meat cooked to perfection, take a look at nice little gadgets like a meat probe. Many of these products come with a smartphone app that can tell the cook when meat is done cooking, in case a game of Frisbee golf is going too long, and can even set temperature presets and save grilling history when you cook something just right and want to remember how to get that same great flavor next time.
