Summer is starting in a few weeks. Are you excited? If you’re in Florida, probably not. This past weekend was absolutely dreadful if you weren’t at the beach, and even then, the humidity – Gah! If any of us go on road trips this summer, the best part might be the time we spend with the cool A/C in the car. So how should we go about preparing our automobile to survive the hot summers this year?

Protect the Interior

One of the first things to do is protect the interior, because even if the sun is beating down on our paint job, we know the inside is getting abused by the sun as well. Investing in some seat covers and a steering wheel cover would be a smart choice. The seat covers will help protect your seats from UV rays. They will also protect your seats from all the sand and sunscreen collected during your beach days this summer. You can also get one of those collapsible sun shades. Sunshades help block the sun from even entering your interior from the windshield, protecting the interior from UV rays and keeping the interior cooler.

Ready the Exterior

Before summer comes and bores into your car’s roof with heat and sunlight, give your car a good wash followed by waxing it. Wax doesn’t just make a car shine, but it keeps it shining and protected from salty air, sand, and UV rays. Speaking of which, your skin needs as much protection of UVA and UVB as much as it can. It sounds silly, but if fair-skinned, you may want to put on a little sun screen while inside the car in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. This would also be a good time to check your piggy bank and find out if you can afford to tint the windows for a little extra protection of the interior. Maintenance and More

A little maintenance never hurts to insure a great trip in the car. We talked about a lot of the maintenance one can do in an afternoon. If anything, make sure the A/C is working. The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage and 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport have automatic a/c as a standard feature on most vehicle trims, and you’ll be happy to know the cabin will stay cool even in blistering heat. Plus, if your vehicle is an older model, Mitsubishi has the longest-lasting car warranties in the automarket, and may have you covered if experiencing some technical failure.

One last thing.

Ever hear of RainX? It’s the brand name of products made to wash and protect cars. Look into some of their water repellents and cleaners for the windshield, headlights, and interior glass!
