Driver’s Auto Mart’s Presents The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX As The Used Car Of The Week: Premium Edition
The award-winning 2021 Ram 1500 pickup truck wowed us this year with its incredibly efficient half-ton diesel engine, V6 and V8 eTorque system, available air suspension, and more storage capacity than one knows what to do with. However, none of these features could light a candle to the new 702 hp TRX off-road variant. This motorized Superman is exceedingly buff and mighty with its adventurous chassis and suspension. This majestic being is considered as good as new, and it’s been chosen as Driver’s Auto Mart’s Premium Used Car of The Week!
Engine and Drive
The 2021 Ram 1500 has an excellent load of powertrain options to choose from. The first is a 3.6-liter V6, which already rocks the house with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Then, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is quite hefty with 480 lb-ft of torque, which is to be expected with this type of motor. The third option is the 5.7-liter V8, which has 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. But let’s face it, you’re not really here for the other options, are you?
The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 is exclusive to TRX buyers, and there’s a reason why. Paying that extra dough gives you more than you can imagine because this powertrain is amplified all the way to an output of 702 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. Honestly, you’ll never need another truck again after riding in this bad mother! The high-ranking pickup is matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It zooms off to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and has a maximum speed of 118 mph.
Regardless of the trim, this year’s 1500 not only uses the 8-speed but has available a 2-wheel and 4-wheel-drive setup.
Exterior
Ram updated the 1500’s grille to a modern-looking style, with a shape that is more narrow for the grille, along with slimmer headlights on most of the models. All except the Ram Rebel have a handlebar that now takes after a mustache.
Buyers will be given the choice to select among three different headlights: halogen, LED, and LED with adaptive front-lighting. At the rear, the tailgate has Lift Assist and the RamBox bed storage has a 115-volt outlet.
The wild-child TRX is measured eight inches wider than a regular 1500, and it flaunts a special front end with flared front fenders constructed of a composite material. This model also features an aluminum hood, LED lights on the hood scoop, together with 18-inch wheels shod with fearsome 35-inch Goodyear All-Terrain tires. The suspension has husky Bilstein shock absorbers and a 5-link live rear axle with plenty of surplus wheel travel.
Interior and Standard Features
Every trim level for this 2021 Ram truck has an interior solely made for them. For instance, the Laramie Longhorn has a high-class Western them, while the Rebel stands out with its daring colors and definite angles. All trims, however, have controls that are well within access of the driver and user-friendly. The big controls all throughout the cabins are seamless in their configuration, and there is an optional touchscreen for front-seat passengers to enjoy.
Standard amenities involve heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, an Uconnect 8-inch touchscreen, a radio, 6 speakers, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Safety features encompass Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS And Driveline Traction Control, side-impact beams, dual-stage driver and passenger seat-mounted side airbags, tire specific low tire pressure warning, airbag occupancy sensor, rear child safety locks, ParkView Back-Up camera.
The TRX receives all of this, plus the 12-inch screen with navigation as a standard, as well as SiriusXM Traffic Plus Real-Time Traffic Display, and. front Collision Mitigation. On top of this, Driver’s Auto Mart has some premium options in store for potential buyers.
