When consumers think about Mitsubishi Motors, an SUV comes to mind. The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) Outlander may be the highlight of the lineup, but for going off-road in a smaller package, the Outlander Sport is the “sporty” version of the Outlander SUV. Minimal changes have been made to this already award-winning package for the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

The PR doesn’t highlight any major changes in engineering. Every Outlander Sport model comes standard with Mitsubishi’s All-Wheel Control (AWC) for a fully adventure-ready experience. Designed for handling different kinds of terrain, the AWC is the automaker’s version of all-wheel drive (AWD). The powertrain lineup will most likely be the same, with a 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve I4 engine standard, able to generate 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque; or a 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve I4, capable of generating 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque.

Design hasn’t changed much for 2025. A compact and sport sibling to the original Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, since the new generation, a more sporty style has swept across the lineup. This included more standard features to match the look, including heated exterior mirrors, automatic headlights, LED low and high-beam headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED tail lights, and rear privacy glass. The inside matches the outside, adding automatic climate control, rear heater ducts, a 6-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way manually adjustable front passenger seat, and a 60/40 folding rear bench seat as the standard equipment. Past the base trim, it gets a little more upscale with heated front seats, a leather-wrapped gear shift knob, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Barely a decade ago, Mitsubishi Motors didn’t have an infotainment system of its own. It was more like a combination of things to make up for one, but eventually, the smartphone-link display audio system (SDA) was developed, and that became the new standard on all Mitsubishi Motors models going forward. Just as the name goes, this is a system consumers can use to connect their phone to the car for Bluetooth wireless technology and steering wheel phone controls. HD Radio, a rearview camera, and steering wheel audio controls are also all standard. A 7-inch touchscreen display is standard, with an 8-inch touchscreen available for select models. As usual, past the base trim of the Outlander Sport, models come with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capability, SiriusXM Satellite Radio 3-month trial, and steering wheel voice recognition control.

All Mitsubishi Motors models are still designed following the RISE body construction method, and include come with automatic high beams, a rearview camera, and LATCH child seat system, and an anti-theft engine immobilizer. Added to the standard safety features for 2025 is a Rear Seat Alert system. Forgetting sports gear in a hot SUV can really stink up the place, so this is a helpful feature. It won’t be available until the October production model, but will be standard on all models after that. Having added automatic safety features over the years, all Mitsubishi Outlander Sport models come with forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning. Additional automatic safety features blind spot warning with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert can be found on select trims.

Easy to keep tuned up, every Mitsubishi Motors vehicles come with a 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty. For consumers who plan to get the most use out of the AWC, an anti-corrosion protection plan for 7 years (or 100,000 miles) is also included. Consumers can also benefit from roadside assistance coverage for 5 years with unlimited miles, should an incident arise. Enjoy all of these benefits when you find a new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport at University Mitsubishi.
