2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4
With the major focus on plug-in hybrid models and SUVs, it’s easy to forget that Mitsubishi Motors also has a sedan. Known as the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, it’s sibling to the Mirage hatchback. Most coverage about the new models state the Mirage and Mirage G4 will carry over from 2021 to 2022 with few updates.

Engine Type
Aside from the Mitsubishi Mirage Carbonite Edition, the lineup is still slated for four trims. The 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage currently has the ES, LE, Carbonite Edition, and SE trims making up the lineup. Regardless, all trims are equipped with a 1.2-liter Inline 3-cylinder MIVEC DOHC engine. “MIVEC” is the acronym for Mitsubishi Motors’ own brand of variable valve timing (VVT), engineered for improving automobile performance and fuel efficiency in powertrains today. This engine is able to generate 76 horsepower and 75 lb-ft of torque.
Driving and Handling
If the 2022 model is a direct crossover, the base ES trim will come standard with a five-speed manual transmission, lending to a fuel economy of 33 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. The rest of the lineup comes standard with an INVECS-III Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This gets the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage an EPA of 36 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway.
Style
Exterior Features
The style for the Mirage has always had a large focus on the lighting – LED taillights standard, automatic LED high beam headlights and fog lights available. This year, some sources say automatic LED headlights will also be added to the collection, making the 2022 Mirage the brightest sedan on the streets. Halogen headlights are still the standard. Heated mirrors with turn signal indicators can be found on high-end trims.
Interior Features
The standard cabin setup comes with cloth upholstery, a 6-way adjustable driver seat, 4-way adjustable passenger seat, automatic climate control, rear heater ducts, and a rear seat pass through to the trunk. Mitsubishi Motors at times hits that sweet spot between affordability and luxury with leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, and heated front seats become available on the high-end of the lineup. If Mitsubishi releases a new special edition for 2022, look out for these features for a little more class.
Technology
Entertainment
For the past few years, Mitsubishi Motors has been tinkering with infotainment systems and put together the 7-inch smartphone-link display audio (SDA) system. On par with earlier systems, this SDA features four speakers, AM/FM Radio, Bluetooth wireless technology, steering wheel-mounted audio and phone controls, and Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In the past, a Rockford Fosgate sound system was an available option on select trims.
Safety Features and Warranty
The 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has the usual basic safety features, including an advanced dual-stage airbags (including the driver’s knee airbag), anti-locking brakes, active stability control, three-point seatbelts, a LATCH child seat tether system, a rearview camera, and an anti-theft engine immobilizer. All vehicles are built using the Mitsubishi Motors signature RISE body construction method. Forward collision mitigation system with pedestrian control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning can be found on select trims.
All Mitsubishi vehicles are covered by a basic limited warranty for 5 years/60,000 miles, a powertrain limited warranty for 10 years/100,000 miles, 7 years or 100,000 miles of anti-corrosion coverage, and roadside assistance.
