2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4

The auto market may be swarming with SUVs and crossovers, but a little balance can help make an automaker stand out. Mitsubishi Motors is continuing to release new vehicles, some of which we’re looking forward to, hopefully a sedan like the discontinued Lancer EVO. Until then, there is one model that keeps returning. Going into the 2021 model year, it’s the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4.

Performance

Engine Type

The Mitsubishi Mirage G4 enters 2021 with four trims – ES, LE, Carbonite Edition, and SE. With only one powertrain for them all, each sedan gets 76 horsepower and 75 lb-ft of torque under the hood. All thanks to a 1.2 MIVEC DOHC engine, optimized with Mitsubishi Motors’ own brand of variable valve timing for performance and fuel efficiency.

Driving and Handling

Although automatic transmissions is where it’s at, the base trim of the Mirage G4 comes with a five-speed manual transmission. For drivers who don’t drive stick, this model can be upgraded to INVECS-III Continuously Variable Transmission. This is a type of automatic transmission used in Mitsubishi models for years and comes standard on all other trims of the Mirage G4. With automatic transmission, the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 gets 35 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway. If the ES trim comes with manual transmission instead, consumers can expect a fuel economy of 33/40 mpg city/highway.

Exterior Features

Keeping every trim affordable and desirable, a handful of basic exterior features standard across the lineup, but the Carbonite Edition and SE trim change things up a little. Only the SE trim comes with LED high beam headlights that are also automatic, fog lights, and side mirrors with turn signal indicators. The Carbonite Edition comes with exclusive exterior style, such as Carbonite and carbon patterns on the front, side, and rear of the vehicle, complete with decals and badges. The Mirage G4 ES rides on 14-inch steel wheels, whereas the rest of the lineup comes with 15-inch alloy wheels.

Interior Features

The interior also comes with many basic features for the cabin, such as a 6-way adjustable driver seat, 4-way adjustable passenger seat, and a rear seat pass through to the trunk. Only on the SE trim will consumers find heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob. Two great amenities that makes it through all trims is automatic climate control and rear heater ducts to keep a comfy cabin at all times.

Steering wheel mounted audio and phone controls also come with every trim, along with steering wheel voice controls. The sole features exclusive to the SE trim is FAST-key entry and push-button start.
