There are three trims on the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage line and they are all powered by a 1.2-liter MIVEC DOHC engine. “MIVEC” is the term for Mitsubishi’s personal variable valve timing technology that alters the valve lift event of an engine’s cylinders during the intake and exhaust of gas and air. Properly optimized, it will increase fuel efficiency and power. A double overhead camshaft (DOHC) also helps with fuel efficiency and power by taking some of the stress off of the engine versus a single overhead camshaft (SOHC).
Driving and Handling
The default transmission type for the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage is a 5-speed manual transmission. Paired to this transmission, the Mirage has a fuel economy of 33/41 mpg city/highway. For the best fuel economy possible, buyers can opt for the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which is standard on the Mirage SE and Mirage GT. Able to seamlessly switch gears no matter the speed, a CVT conserves fuel and pushes the fuel economy up to 37 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage has fairly normal standard exterior features like halogen headlights, LED rear combination tail lights, power side mirrors, and 14-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. The Mirage GT comes with high intensity discharge (HID) headlights, and the Mirage SE and Mirage GT have fog lights and exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators. Interior Features
Inside the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage, features vary a little. All trims have a form of keyless entry (the SE and GT having FAST-Key passive entry), a rearview camera system, rear heated floor ducts, and split-folding rear seats. The Mirage SE and GT also have a 4-speaker system, but come with a 6.5-inch smartphone link display system for Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.
