Mitsubishi Motors North America News
At a press conference held last week in Tokyo, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, a parent company to Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) announced irregularities concerning fuel consumption testing data. However, from a statement provided by MMNA on April 27, Mitsubishi vehicles in the U.S. market are not affected.
In response to the last week’s news from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Mitsubishi Motors R&D America, Inc. conducted an internal audit on U.S. market vehicles from the 2013 model year through the most current 2017 model year vehicles. After a thorough review of those vehicles, Mitsubishi Motors R&D America, Inc. has confirmed that fuel economy testing data is accurate and complies with established EPA procedures.
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has acted quickly to address this issue and is putting in place a special committee of external experts to thoroughly and objectively continue this investigation. To remain transparent and accurate with U.S. consumers and authorities, the MMNA has shared their recent information with EPA, California Air Resources Board and DOT and they will continue to do so during their testing. The results of the investigation, once completed, will be made public.
