2016 Car Comparison: Ford Fusion v. Chevy Malibu

In recent years, the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu have been closely ranked by top car reviewers. To provide potential car buyers with more insight between these two cars, we did a quick comparison between the 2016 Ford Fusion S and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu LS.
While these are not all of the features that need to be considered before making a car purchase, we chose to focus on a couple of the most popular car features that are considered before buying a car.
Engine
The Ford Fusion S is equipped with a 2.5-liter, i-VCT I-4 engine that has SelectShift technology and can generate 175-horsepower. The Chevy Malibu L can generate up to 163-horsepower from its 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Additionally, the Malibu is equipped with stop/start technology that helps to improve the vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
Fuel Efficiency
The Chevy Malibu is more fuel-efficient than the Ford Fusion. The Malibu has an average fuel efficiency of 27 MPG city and 37 MPG highway and the Fusion gets 22 MPG city and 34 MPG highway.
Interior
Both vehicles are five-passenger sedans and have different interior features. While the Malibu is a more fuel-efficient vehicle, the Fusion has a few more modern interior features. The Malibu has a six-speaker system and one 12-volt power outlet. In comparison, the Fusion has a rearview camera, voice-activated SYNC technology, a four-speaker system and three 12-volt power outlets.
Safety
Both cars have cutting edge safety features and both vehicles earned five stars in a safety crash test conducted by the National Transport and Safety Highway Authority.
Warranty
Both Chevrolet and Ford offer buyers the same warranty. Both warranties include a basic 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty, up to 60,000 miles of roadside assistance.
Price
At $22,110 the starting MSRP of the Ford Fusion S is slightly less than the Chevrolet Malibu L which starts at $22,500.
