The Chevrolet Tahoe SUV got a complete revamp for the 2021 model year, and with it came class-dominant cargo space, an available V8 diesel engine, as well as a standard V8 engine and 10-inch touchscreen. This week, Driver’s Auto Mart is focusing on this full-size vehicle and its many deluxe features. See all that there is to offer with this fun and lively Used Car of The Week!

Powertrains

There are three powertrain options to select from on the 2021 Tahoe SUV. The first is the 5.3-L V8 engine which has a mighty output of 355 horsepower with 383 lb-ft of torque, it’s standard on all trims except for the High Country model. If those numbers meet your expectations, then you’ll want to opt for the High Country’s 6.2-L engine, as it has a faster and stronger output of 420 horsepower with 460 lb-ft of torque.

New this year is the brand’s 6-cylinder 3.0-L turbodiesel, which is available on all Tahoe’s, with the exception of the Z71. Sporting a healthy output of 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, it has excellent highway fuel economy numbers with 28 (RWD) and 26 (4WD) mpg.

Each trim is had with a 10-speed automatic. The RWD system comes standard, while the 4WD is made available through the line. However, the 4WD system is standard on the Z71 model. Maximum towing capacity also tots up to 8,400 lbs.

Exterior

The 2021 Tahoe SUV reaches 210.7 inches. The large brute keeps its traditional box shape, but manages to incorporate more opulence and a little less off-roading Jeep. The front shows off its big and sexy grille, while its headlights feature charming boomerang-structured running lights and standard LED headlights.

From the side-view, the truck has a surface that is sleek and contoured. Aside from the base-level LS, each model comes with a power-operated, hands-free tailgate. On top of this, RST’s are constructed with a “street-inspired” design with blacked-out elements and large 22-inch wheels.

Meanwhile, the venturesome Z71 has a distinctive front fascia, along with a front skid plate and daring red tow hooks. The posh High Country trims also shows off its bronze grille accents, available power-retractable steps, and snazzy 22-inch wheels.

Interior and Standard Features

Depending on whether you have a bench seat, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe seats 7 or 8 passengers. The LS trim, however, can accommodate 9 passengers (with a bench seat). This roomy cabin provides an astonishing 10 inches of legroom in the third row. Not to mention, the cargo area is just as spacious with 25.5 cubic-feet and 122.9 (when the rear seats are down).

Materials consist of standard deluxe cloth, while higher trims get perforated leather. Controls remain easy to use, along with climate and audio functions.

Each Tahoe is geared with a large 10-inch touchscreen that fuses infotainment functions with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Additional standard features encompass tri-zone climate control, remote engine start, 8-way power front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

Drivers and passengers will enjoy amenities such as a 6-speaker audio system, GM’s OnStar with 4G LTE and in-vehicle Wi-Fi. At the same time, safety-oriented technologies include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking.

It’s recommended to at least opt for the LT trim, as this model brings along a hands-free power tailgate, leather seating with memory driver’s seat, 9-speaker Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, and heated front seats.
