The 2020 GMC Yukon proves that it’s a force to be reckoned with among rivals in its segment. This full-size car is known for being able to carry quite a few people in its belly. It also has quite a load in its performance power, thanks to its mighty V8 engine. This posh vehicle rings all the bells and whistles with its premium materials, which is exactly why it’s been chosen as Driver’s Auto Mart‘s Used Car of The Week!

Engine

This Yukon SUV gets an incredible boost from its two V8-powered engine options. The first is the standard 5.3-liter V8, producing an excellent 355 horsepower with 383 lb-ft of torque while paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the 6.2-liter V8 really shows what it’s made of with a thrilling output of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It’s also mated with a 10-speed automatic.

Both of these powertrains have Active Cylinder Management, in which half of the cylinders are disabled during steady coasting, as this helps to save fuel. Despite this, neither engine can be described as fuel-efficient.

The standard drivetrain is a two-wheel (2WD) setup, while the 4-wheel drive (4WD) is optional in all Yukons. Maximum towing capacity comes out to 8,500 pounds.

Exterior

Potential buyers interested in an SUV that will accommodate a large family or weekend traveling group have nothing to worry about in the 2020 Yukon. This full-size giant already measures 204 inches in length, while the XL version is even more prominent. While it isn’t as easy as a compact to maneuver in parking spaces, it has value for its overall practicality.

Cool exterior features include a 3D grille design and chrome elements. It also has large 22-inch kicks/alloy wheels on some models.

Interior

The 9-seater GMC has a bench seat for the base-level SLE. Move up to the SLT lowers this count to 8 but trades that for cozier front bucket seats. This upgraded trim that swaps cloth for leather upholstery has changeable steering and power-adjustable pedals. Depending on the previous owner’s choices, some models may even have seven seats, as a pair of captain’s chairs might have also been ordered for the second row.

Standard Features

The 2020 GMC Yukon comes in three trim levels: SLE, SLT, and Denali. A standard model will typically have a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, front/rear parking sensors, tri-zone automatic climate control, 9-speaker Bose audio system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration and an infotainment system managed by an 8-inch touch screen.

Moving up to the SLT model, it tacks on leather upholstery, a tilt/telescope steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals, and a power tailgate. It also brings along the Enhanced Driver Alert Package with safety technologies such as forward-collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking and lane-departure warning. Those who opt for the subscription will also get to enjoy 4G LTE and Wi-Fi.
