Mitsubishi Motors Wins in Automotive Science Group Performance Study
Automakers all around the globe were curious to see what would happen with the merger Fiat Chrysler Automobiles proposed with Renault. Well, it fell through, and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is just fine with it. When an automotive group is made up of an award-winning brand like Mitsubishi Motors, they don’t need any help competing in today’s auto market. Most recently, Mitsubishi Motors North America, the fastest-growing Asian brand in the U.S. for the second consecutive year according to J.D. Power, has been recognized as the 2019 “Best All-Around Performance Brand” and “Best Economic Performance Brand” by leading research company, Automotive Science Group for the second year in a row.
Get it? Because of the “all-around” performance award. Not only did the Automotive Science Group recognize Mitsubishi Motors North America as the “Best All-Around Performance Brand” for the second consecutive year but also as “Best Economic Performance Brand”. Take a guess at which models won those awards.
If you guessed that the 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage was awarded as the “Best Economic Performance Car”, then you guessed right. Who knew that the Mitsubishi Mirage would also win the “Best All-Around Performance Award”? There was more than one vehicle to win this award though, with the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV winning also receiving the “Best All-Around Performance Award”. Pretty much the entire lineup won really, with both the Outlander PHEV and Outlander Sport listed among the “Best 5 All-Around Performance” vehicles in their respective vehicle segments.
“The 2019 Mitsubishi lineup continues to offer consumers the right mix of efficiency, style, technology and performance, and that blend is resonating with new vehicle buyers…From the eco-friendly Mirage to the world’s best-selling plug-in hybrid**, the Outlander PHEV, we offer best-in-class vehicles with versatility and value, and the results of ASG’s latest study bear that out.” – Mark Chaffin, chief operating officer, MMNA.
For an automaker that was struggling a few years ago, Mitsubishi Motors is sure making a comeback. During the 2019 Automotive Performance Index (API) Study conducted by the Automotive Science Group, a market comprised of 1,640 2019 model year cars, crossovers, and SUVs were reviewed. The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Outlander PHEV were named out of 400 of those vehicles considered for the “Best 5 All-Around Performance” vehicles list. The Automotive Science Group also stated that Mitsubishi’s lineup offers the best value across any other automaker in the industry in 2019, especially when considering its purchase and operating costs across the first 6.5 years of vehicle ownership. Mitsubishi Motors Mitsubishi earned the title of “Best Economic Performance Brand” by outperforming the industry average by 27%.
The dynamic lineup offered by Mitsubishi Motors brings purposeful and efficient vehicles with cutting-edge technology to the auto market, and with an affordable price, is there really anything else to know? Mitsubishi Motors vehicles have a starting MSRP of $13,794 (plus destination fee) for the 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage that ranges up to $35,795 (plus destination fee) for the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
