Mitsubishi Motors has a lot of new models coming to its lineup if the “Challenge 2025” business plan announcement was anything to go by. Six were revealed to be released over the course of the year (2023), with the new Colt and Colt Hybrid joining the lineup, plus a mysterious new compact SUV. Finally, the announcement of a C/D segment vehicle from Mitsubishi during the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance mid-term plans for Alliance 2022 come to fruition. It took a while, but it’s finally here. Before all the attention falls on that, Mitsubishi Motors wants to remind us of its electrified models, such as the 2023 Outlander PHEV, joining the stage with many others at 2023 Electrify Expo.

What is the Electrify Expo? Why, it’s only the number one electric vehicle festival in North America. With more than one million square feet dedicated to many automaker brand displays, plus a chance to test drive electrified and battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), consumers can dive into the deep end of the electrified vehicle world. Attracting more e-curious consumers every year, the Electrify Expo acts as a forum for the top companies and executives in electrification to share insights with each other and the consumer and discuss how the auto market will make the transition to all-electrified vehicles. In recent years, this has become an even greater concern, leading to large investments to change city infrastructure on a large scale to support BEV charging stations and create a national BEV charging network.

On the showroom floor, consumers will be able to get good look at the entire 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV lineup. Every trim, from the base 2023 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid ES, starting at $39,845 (plus destination fee), to the top of the chain, 40th Anniversary Edition, starting at $49,995 (plus destination fee). Yeah, it’s been 40 years. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV had a lot of success overseas before the automaker brought it state side. We’ve been hoping the same could be said for the Mitsubishi Triton mid-size pickup truck, but that’s a different story. For now, the Outlander PHEV is on display, and consumers will also get a chance to test drive the plug-in hybrid SUV and learn why it’s received multiple awards and raving reviews from media and consumers alike.

“Electrify Expo is the perfect venue to introduce the award-winning 2023 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid to customers looking to make an initial move into electrified mobility…As a leader in electrification, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is a logical first step for many consumers motivated by environmental awareness, but who may not be ready to go all-in on battery-only power. The 2023 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid blends the clean and quiet motoring of an electric vehicle with the range and ease of refueling of gasoline.  When customers see the exquisite exterior and interior styling coupled with the advanced technology and ease in which the vehicle transitions from the respective powertrains, we are confident they’ll want an Outlander in their driveway.” – Mark Chaffin, MMNA President and CEO

With standard performance across the lineup, consumers can expect an all-electric range (AER) of 38 miles, a total driving range of 420 miles, and excellent charging capability offered. Available on the SEL 40th Anniversary Edition, these are the only two mass-market Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) with DC fast-charging capability, capable of charging the 20kWh battery pack up to 80-percent capacity in only 38 minutes. The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SEL starts at $45,445 (plus destination fee).

The 2023 Electrify Expo starts May 19, 2023 and lasts until May 21, 2023 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California. With seven locations to visit over the course of the year, South Florida consumers can attend the Electrify Expo in October, running from October 14-15, 2023, at the Miami Dade Fairgrounds in Miami, Florida. On the other hand, consumers won’t have to wait until October for a test drive. Find the new 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV at University Mitsubishi.
