It’s Time to Plan a “Trunk-or-Treat” Party!
Halloween is almost finally here! Okay, we have a few weeks to go, but it’s never too early to plan a fun Halloween party with friends. This is especially true if looking to plan a party for kids and young teens. How difficult was it to coordinate a birthday or play date? Now is the time to start making phone calls and getting creative, because if you haven’t heard, there’s a new kind of party that’s gained a lot of popularity over the years. It’s called “Trunk-or-Treat”, and we have some great tips on how to make this a party that’s family-friendly and everyone will enjoy.
What is “Trunk-or-Treat”?
Trunk-or-Treat is a new party craze that’s perfect for the little ones. Wary of the candy strangers are giving out? Have to take the kids out early because you want to avoid crazy people one night falls? Don’t sweat it. Trunk-or-Treat is all about creating a controlled environment and planning a Halloween party with people you know to setup a candy land paradise for kids to still go trick-or-treating and have fun.
Preparation
Preparation for a successful Trunk-or-Treat party. Get together with friends, family members, or neighbors to plan the party. You’ll need several hosts that are willing to use their car as a destination for candy. Picking a large area like a park or open field is best. This way, people can make the best use of the space and not just line up cars in a row. That’s not very creative and a little boring. People will need time to prepare, and that’s why we’re talking about it now.
Get Creative
The basic concept of Trunk-or-Treat is to have kids go from car-to-car to find candy, treats, and Halloween-themed party favors. That doesn’t mean you should just show up in your car and pop open the trunk with a bowl of candy. Get a little creative with it. This can be as simple as some spooky decorations to make the car festive. Some people go all out and transform their car into a magical and spooky land for would-be trick-or-treaters to collect candy. If parents agree, the entire vehicle could be a mini haunted house for kids to explore and find the heavily sought-after king size candy bars.
Keep Active
For most trick-or-treaters, the whole point is to go from door-to-door, yell “trick or treat”, and collect some candy. But this is “Trunk-or-Treat”, and that means it’s party time. There are plenty of games partygoers can play, Halloween-themed or not, to make this year’s “Trunk-or-Treat” something to remember. How about a scavenger hunt? Maybe a haunted trail for those with a brave heart? Buy a dozen or so pumpkins for pumpkin mini golf or pumpkin carving. The possibilities are endless, and as long as the prize is more candy, kids will want to play.
Trunk-or-Treat is a great way to celebrate Halloween in a family-friendly environment. That’s why it’s become so popular over the years. If you plan your own Trunk-or-Treat party, share with us a photo of your party or spooky car on University Mitsubishi social media.
